Roller Skates
My first pair of skates looked like these. Just a piece of metal with a red strap. The straps didn't always do such a good job of holding your foot in place so I twisted my ankle several times while wearing these. And like their cousins, the wooden skateboard with metal wheels, they were very touchy. Tiny pebbles on the driveway were their kryptonite. I can't tell you how many times I went sailing across the pavement because of one stupid little rock. I've got the scars on my shins and knees to prove it. lolMy friend, Lynn, got her skates before I got mine so she and I shared hers. She would wear one skate and I would wear one skate and we would roll around my kitchen like that for hours. We also rode like that on our neighbor's HUGE driveway. It wasn't ideal but we made do and had a lot of one-footed fun in the process.I don't know about you but now, I've got that "Brand New Key" ear worm going through my head. I hate when that happens.
