Painter's Pants
Painter's Pants became all the rage during my jr. and sr. years of high school. Like most popular things, painter's pants were hard to come by in our city because the retailers there are always at least 5-10 years behind the times and completely out of touch with pop culture. I can't remember for sure how my mom finally got her hands on a pair for me. I highly doubt that Anthony's carried them but maybe they eventually did. I just don't remember. All I remember is that I was very, very excited when she got them for me. I actually needed one size bigger than the ones she got but that was the biggest size that that particular store carried so I just had to make do. They cut into my stomach and when I bent over, they almost cut me in two but by golly, they were popular so I just learned to grin and bear it. My stomach hurts just thinking about how it felt to wear them. lol But the pain was worth it, I suppose because said pain allowed me to join the "cool kids with painter's pants" club and when you're 17 years old, that membership trumps just about everything else. : )
