Ms. Pac Man
Technically speaking, I guess this wasn't so much a "childhood" toy by strict definition. The first time I ever saw one was during my first year of college. I fell in love with this game and it remains my all-time favorite game today. My college friends and I played this, Centipede, and Alpine Ski for hours at a time. We never got any sleep because we would head straight to the handy stop (because it stayed open all night) to play Ms. Pacman and Centipede around midnight every night after we finished homework, practicing, etc. (This was pre-ECU so I didn't have as much work to do) My friends and I got so good at this game that we could play for hours on a single quarter. It was great fun and all of dreamed of a day when we might have one of these little beauties inside of our homes. Now, if you've got the cash, they are actually available. I have yet to get one but one of these days, I still hope to do so. In the meantime, I've got the exact game on Playstation which is better in the sense that I can play it while comfortably lounging on the couch or bed at night. But Playstation will likely never adequately duplicate the real joystick and without a real joystick, the game just isn't the same. Also, the Playstation version doesn't allow you play high speed and high spped is my favorite way to play. It's supposed to be the hardest but for my friends and me, it was always the one on which we excelled the most. I still play once in a while if I happen to run across one of the old machines in a mall or handy stop but there aren't many of them left around here so that doesn't happen very often. I'm not very good anymore because I don't play for hours per day like I used to. lol But one of these days if Prince Kit manages to acquire me a dream machine, I'll reclaim my crown. LOL
