April and Alto Power
Me with my precious niece, April back in 1979. I completely adored this little munchkin. It's too bad that an ugly divorce between my brother and her mom cost us so many priceless years together. We were very close and I loved her as though she were my own. When her mom took her away from us, it killed me inside. I felt as though a huge part of my heart had been torn away. No aunt ever loved a niece more. From the minute I first laid eyes on her, she was my precious baby girl and I would have done anything in the world for her. I'm back in contact with her now and I'm so proud of the person she has become but I'll always deeply grieve the years I lost with her. We'll never be as close as we otherwise would have been. I've just missed too much.
Shirt: I loved that shirt. Choir was my life, as I had long decided by that time to pursue music in college. I was very proud of making Concert Choir, All-District, etc. so I was proud to wear that shirt.
I'm so thankful for the fact that Bernie and L. had a copy of this pic. Obviously Dawn is the most important part of the photo to me, but we do have lots of other pics of her. lol However, this is the only known picture in existence of my favorite high school shirt. I never thought I would see it again.
