A Yo Yo? I LOVE Yo Yo's!
Who doesn't love yo-yo's? I still get in the mood to play with one from time to time and when I do, I pick one up at Walmart. The adults in this house are not afraid to play with toys and that's one of the things that makes our house such a fun place to be. OUr kids seem to love that Prince Kit and I still love to play with toys. We have taught them the value of hanging onto the child inside of them forever. When you grow up, you have to take on adult responsibilities and obviously we are doing our best to prepare them for that but we also believe that part of the preparation for adulthood includes instilling within them, a free spirit that knows it's o.k. to let go and have innocent fun, no matter how old they get. All work and no play really DOES make Jack a dull, stressed out, hypertensive, early myocardial infarction candidate. So it is our hope and prayer that our children never stop visiting the toy aisle, even when they have kids and grandkids of their own someday.
Now......about the yo yo's.
When Prince Kit and I were growing up, Duncan Yo-Yo's were THE yo-yo's to have. Mr. Zing, Uncle Zeb, and all of the mid-cartoon commercials promoted Duncan as the "everybody who's anybody has one" brand so we kids could settle for nothing less. A real Duncan yo-yo purchase was an event of sorts back then and we were always excited and proud to get them. I have had just about every shape and color over the years, including one specialty yo-yo that was shaped and painted to look exactly like the 8 ball, but my favorite - the one I always choose unless the store is temporarily out of stock, is the blue butterfly. I know. You're shocked that the blue one is my favorite. What can I tell you? Blue is awesome. I'm pretty sure it's God's favorite color, too. Why else would He paint the most vast portions of His beautiful creation that color? The sky and the ocean are blue by no Deitial accident or whim. You can trust me on this. The Big Guy loves Him some blue. : )
