Tiger Beat
On a related note, I wrote a letter to David Cassidy in which I proposed marriage to him when I was in the 3rd grade. I was so excited and proud of my letter that I carried it with me to school so that I could show it to my friends before mailing it. I put it inside an envelope, sealed it, and then put a stamp on it. The morning I took it to school, I managed to drop it out of my notebook without realizing it while we were in the cafeteria watching morning cartoons before classes began. Shortly after that, Mrs. Frew sent me to run an errand for her and when I walked into the principal's office, I noticed my letter setting there in the outgoing mail clip on Mr. Murphree's desk. I couldn't imagined what it was doing there so I grabbed it and took it back to my classroom. I showed it to Mrs. Frew and expressed my puzzlement. She said, "I found it and put it in there. You wanted it mailed, didn't you?" LOLOL I felt kind of silly because of course, that IS what I wanted but not before I had a chance to show it off to the other kids in the class. I mean, I had David Cassidy's "real" address! (I can't believe we thought those addresses they published in Tiger Beat were the actual celebrity home addresses, lol) I was too embarrassed to tell Mrs. Frew of my secret plan to show off my letter so I put the letter back on Mr. Murphree's desk and settled for merely telling everyone about it instead. A couple of the girls in the class like Reena, thought it was cool but no one else cared at all. It was a much bigger deal to me than it was to most of my class, especially the boys. LOL
Sadly David never responded to my letter or my proposal. LOL A woman never forgets a man who scorns her though so if I ever see him in person, I still plan to give him a stern lecture for leaving me hanging and breaking my 3rd grade heart. LOL
* another related note: The first time I ever saw David Cassidy was when he did a guest starring role on Marcus Welby, M.D. He played a boy who had diabetes and a whole lot of other drama going on inside of his head. Dr. Welby had to save him from the brink of disaster, as he did to some patient every week at 9:00 p.m. central on ABC. lol I fell in love with him then though I didn't know his name or anything else about him. When he showed up on the Partridge Family a couple of years later, I was over the moon.
After several years of obscurity, then, more recently, a successful stage show in Vegas, David has returned to television playing an irresponsible rock star has-been father on a show called "Ruby and the Rockits". It's a cute show but sadly, he's not as hot anymore. That's what he gets for breaking my heart. LOLOL
