Sno Cones
When I was growing up, sno cones were not exactly plentiful. I'm not sure why that is other than the fact that this is a crusty old town full of people who have never cared at all about providing fun or exciting experiences for young people living here. There was a sno cone stand over on Wyandotte but it was only open sporadically so my mom didn't even bother to drive all the way over there most of the time. But when we did happen over there and find it open, I was always super excited. To those of you who got these treats regularly, that probably sounds a little crazy but again, I didn't get them often so an open sno cone stand was an event in my childhood. I loved sno cones then and I love them (and the updated version, shaved ice) today. They are my favorite summertime treat and I am a little embarrassed to tell you that I could totally eat like, one every hour on the hour if I had a sno cone machine in my house.
And speaking of that, I've always wanted a real sno cone or shaved ice machine inside of my house. I've also always wanted a flaked ice machine like they used to have in restaurants, AND my own soda machine so that I could have a refreshing soda fountain drink (as opposed to pop that is poured from a plastic bottle) anytime I want one. I haven't managed to get either of those things yet but I'm still holding out hope that I will.calories be damned. I want my pop! : )
