One of the Great Loves of My Life

This one won't mean a thing to anyone but me. Basketball was my life in elementary school and jr. high. I went to Parker and our school colors were green and gold. For my 7th grade birthday, my mom took me to my favorite store in the world, (back then) Diamond Sports, and let me pick out a new pair of basketball shoes and a new basketball. They had one green and gold basketball, which was something I had never seen before. They didn't normally carry anything but regular colors but they had gotten in a couple of balls that were green and gold, blue and gold, and black and gold, which were our city school's colors. Back then, having ANYTHING with school colors was a big deal because such things were not plentiful as they are today. Oh man, did I ever love that ball. My mom bought it and the sneakers for me. Both were fairly expensive and our family budget was very, very tight that year. She really couldn't afford it but she couldn't imagine disappointing me on my birthday so she happily purchased both. That's just the kind of selfless, amazing mom she has always been. I adore her. I carried that ball with me everywhere I went for the next couple of years. I rode my bike everywhere and dribbled my basketball alongside of me while I peddled away. lol That ball was my best friend. I'm not sure where it is today. My mom moved a couple of times after I went away to college and things got misplaced, etc. I've never seen another green and gold basketball again but everytime I remember mine, it brings a smile to my face. For a few years, it was my constant companion and I loved it as though it were made of priceless gold. This isn't a pic of mine. I don't have a pic of mine. It's just the only green and gold bb pic I could find on google. Apparently those colors are still rare to find.
