The O*** Theater (edited for privacy)
The Okla Theather back when it was still a thriving, happening place. For the first 10 or so years of my life, this was the only theater in town except for a couple of drive-ins which I didn't like much because I don't "do" heat. It was a very unique, beautiful old place. It had a very old time showbiz feel and look to it. I remember loving the carpet because it was the thickest, most plush carpet I had ever walked upon. I've never seen carpet like that anywhere else. It was super thick and super soft. Even the stairs were covered in it. It's a shame our city has allowed this theater to fall into ruin. I keep hoping that someday someone from my generation who remembers what a great place it used to be, will invest enough money to restore it. Anyhow....during 7th and 8th grades, you could find my friends and me here every Friday night unless there was a basketball game. We didn't care what movie was playing. We just liked the atmosphere so we went there to hang. My first "big time" serious kiss took place on the back row. I had to share that part to gross out my children. LOL
