Mood Rings

Got one of these when they came out during my 6th grade year. It looked exactly like this one if I remember correctly. You had to run cold or hot water on them to get them to actually change. LOL But that didn't keep us from wearing them and expecting them to start working properly at any given time. LOL

My mood ring was given to me by a classmate named Michael Cain. He and I had sat one in front of the other on the bus one December day when our teams went to Durant to play in a tournament. We had long been friends before that, but for some reason, that day, we really bonded. I was wearing a t-shirt that read:  "Too pooped to pop". It also had a picture of a cute little frog. I don't know why, but I loved that shirt and so did he so all the way to Durant, he kept turning around, saying, "Too pooped to pop" in this really sweet, goofy voice. It was one of those "you'd just have to be there" kind of things. As we laughed and talked, he said something about wishing he had one of those shirts so I told him that I could probably get him one at Anthony's, where my mom worked and bought my shirt. Because it was just a t-shirt and because of her employee discount, it cost less than $5 and I really liked Mike so I didn't mind getting him one at all. So I told him to come by my house on the Saturday before Christmas which he did. I had the shirt wrapped and waiting for him. What I didn't expect was the beautifully-wrapped gift he handed back to me that day. He got me the super popular mood ring that every girl in school wanted that year! I was so happy and so touched that he bought such a sweet, thoughtful gift for me and I wore that silly little ring proudly.
