The Monkees Made Me A Daydream Believer
How I did love thee, Davy Jones. Let me count the ways. lol
"Here we come walking down the street...."
And "Daydream Believer" was not only my very favorite Monkees song, but also, my very favorite song in general, during my 1st grade year. The single was the #1 thing on my birthday list that year and it's the first thing I bought that Saturday. All these years later, I still love the song, and, the sweet memories of going to Ben Franklin with my sweet mama on my birthday to finally get the record I had been wanting for days.
The Monkees was another show that Bernie and I both enjoyed. One year, when he was in Boy Scouts, his troop meeting took place the same time as the show aired. We were both bummed about that. I had to miss the beginning of every episode because Mom ans I would take him and drop him off. Bernie had to miss the whole episode every week. As I recall, he skipped a couple of meetings in order to watch with me (life before VCR's required such maneuvers from time to time) and although that didn't thrill Dad, it suited me quite fine. lol
