Magic Slate
I had tons and tons of these. I still like to get them once in awhile just because I like the way it feels when I write on it. I've also always wanted to be able to write with my left hand (just because it's boring being right-handed, lol) so when I was a kid, I would sometimes get one of these to practice learning to write with my left hand. It was a fun way to practice and it saved paper.
Lynn and I also used to pretend that these were those little clipboard-like things that doctors and nurses carried. When we pretended to be doctors taking care of our baby dolls, we would carry our magic slate and pretend we were turning the page, looking over the patient history and then we would write out our notes, diagnosis, and prescriptions. It worked perfectly because when you were finished with one patient, you could just lift the page to erase everything you had just written and start all over with the next patient. lol
No matter what technology brings to us, I think this will continue to be a timeless toy that kids of all ages will enjoy.
