Lunchboxes
Two of many lunchboxes I had when I was a kid. I had the Pufnstuf lunchbox in the 1st grade. The place where our lunchboxes were kept in the classroom was all the way across the room from where I sat. I always knew when lunchtime was near because just a few minutes before the time arrived, the smell of the banana that my mom put inside of my lunchbox each day would begin to permeate the room. lol Every time I look at a pic of that lunchbox, I can still smell banana, which is both weird and sweet.
Pufnstuf was my 3rd grade lunchbox. I loved that Saturday morning show, which was odd, because as a rule, I didn't like "real" shows to be shown on Saturdays. I was an animation purist, I guess. lol But I liked that show and sort of had a crush on the boy who starred in it. I also loved the fact that the show was filmed on a vibrantly colorful set which was reflected well on the lunchbox. Also, I just loved metal lunchboxes that had that sort of 3-D texture to them, rather than just being flat. I liked running my fingers across it.
I have such great memories of taking my lunch to school, because my mom always worked so hard, and took such great pains to make sure I had a tasty lunch that I would love. My favorite meal in the world was hamburgers so she got up every morning, fried me a fresh burger, and carefully wrapped it thoroughly so that it would stay moist and warm all morning. It never got hard or stale in any way. With the burger, she packed chips, snack cakes, and strawberry pop with ice in my thermos. Yum. I had the best lunches in school because I had the best mom in the world. Thankfully, I STILL have the best mom in the whole world. I pray she stays healthy and here with me for many, many, MANY years to come because I love her with all of my heart.
