Kress's was my favorite store when I was under the age of 5 because they carried a LOT of toys and unlike the other stores in town, they encouraged you to play with the display models. That was unheard of back then! They got a lot of extra toys during December so it was a very fun place to shop with your mom all of the time but especially at Christmas. Unfortunetely, it was an old building and it burned to the ground. No matter where I have lived over the years, I have always thought about Kress's at Christmas time and the memories never fail to make me feel young, innocent, and warm inside.
