Gumby and Pokey were very popular for a year or two . They had their own cartoon, which helped to launch the toy line. Every kid had to have one of each. Looking back, I realize there never really was all that much you could do with them. They were cute and bendy but that's about it. I still loved them though and I also loved the cartoon. For a brief time, they aired it on Sundays which was a Godsend to me because cartoons were extremely hard to come by on Sundays. That was the day that ABC apparently believed that all of America wanted to watch "Wild Kingdom", "Roller Derby", and professional bowling. I get depressed again just thinking about it. God bless cable television.
