The Green Lunch Tray
The old green school trays. I ate off of these for years and years. Our elmentary school lunches were just nasty. I can't believe they were allowed to feed that crap to us. It was unidentifiable and unedible. Lots of spinach, sweet cornbread, and brown beans were on the menu, too. I actually like brown beans but only my mom's. The ones the school made were so gross and sweet cornbread should be outlawed. And that was one of their better meals. The only time I ever ate at school was on the last day of the semester when they sometimes served hamburgers.
They didn't even allow us to have chocolate milk very often. (Thank you, cheapskate principal-in-need-of-lots-of-therapy-to-find-out-why-you-went-into-teaching-when-you-hated-kids Howard Murphree)
When I started jr. high, the lunches didn't get much better though we did have burgers a little more often AND we were allowed to have chocolate milk everyday. I went hungry a lot, though because non-burger days sucked hardcore.
FINALLY! In high school, they offered hamburgers every single day for lunch AND we were allowed to purchase pop! At long last, the green tray brought me something tasty.
I'm sorry you're gone now, Mr. Murphree and I sincerely hope you're in heaven. But I hope they serve you lots of government issued beans and spinach and I hope you only get chocolate milk twice per year, lest you think I've completely forgiven you. LOL
