Candy
Just a FEW of the tasty candy treats that could be found at Chi Chi's, the beloved little candy store that sat across the street from my elementary school. It was named after the sweet old lady who owned and ran it. If you grew up in my neighborhood, then you were a frequent Chi Chi's visitor and you probably miss it as much as I do. Neighborhood grocery stores are a thing of the past now but when I was a kid, they were plentiful. We had three in our neighborhood, alone and all three got a lot of business. There were also three regular neighborhood grocery stores (the kind that sold everything rather than just candy, pop, and the essentials). I hate that my kids will never get to experience riding their bikes to a place like Chi Chi's to get an afternoon, or mid-summer's day treat. It was a time-honored tradition for my friends and me.
Chi Chi carried MUCH more than this but I am not having very much luck finding pics of the vintage packaging, etc. and some of the candy that we loved back then has apparently disappeared off the face of the earth. So sad. It was all good!
