Buffalo Drive-In
Oh man. We ate at this place a LOT when I was very young and their food was delicious. My favorites were their chili dogs (bun and chili only - no weiner), and chocolate shakes. Mmmm. They were SOOOO good. Back in the 50's and 60's, almost all of the little hole-in-the-wall drive in's like this had great food. That was before the fat police started pushing eating establishments to change their high-fat recipes and ingredients. And I'd like to point out that the obesity rate was significantly LOWER then than it is now but whatever.
In those days, my family's favorite fast food places were The Buffalo Drive-In, Dairy Queen, Grand Drive-In, and Dairy King. We also LOVED the hamburgers that were made fresh anytime you wanted them at Joe and Jay's neighborhood grocery store. They were 5/$1 and they were some of the best hamburgers I have ever had in my entire life. All of the families in my neighborhood got Joe and Jay's take-out burgers often. They were very affordable and better than the burgers you could find at ANY high-end restaurant. Mmm. If I close my eyes and think back, I can still smell and taste them. Delish.
